I started working in an office environment in 1996, so fully a part of the Ally McBeal 4-inch stiletto pumps as standard office gear. I used to have to go into NYC all the time and routinely sprint for trains and subways in said 4-inch heels that over time got a platform, pointy toes, and even kitten heels. And then came the visible bunion bump.
my bunion/feet started shouting at me by the time i was 40 and I slid into my first pair of Vionic shoes with a sigh of relief by the time I was 45. I started WFH 3 days/week in 2019, then COVID happened and next my company got bought and sold, leaving me WFH AAALLLL the time and my bunion a soft whisper of pain when i slid into 'too tall/too tight' shoes or walked around for 'too long' which was completely manageable!
But when i started walking 4-5 days a week 11 weeks ago, things took a decided turn for the worst. Last week, I was in pain pretty much every day. Today on my walk, my bunion toe (righty) which at this point partially crosses over his next-door neighbor when walking....popped. snapped? cracked? something like that and I cannot walk without pain. at all. in fact, even when not walking it kind of throbs a bit.
so I called the podiatrist a friend recommended when i talked to her about it...TWO YEARS AGO, and the Dr had an appointment at 9am tomorrow. so I took it and we'll see what we can do about this damn bunion.
