those who have already watched it: Was the Russian dialogue subtitled in English when you watched? I’m watching on HBO Max and neither the Russian or French was subtitled. I’m guessing that when Ilya was speaking to his father, he was getting the same kind of pressure to not mess his hockey career up and bring home the big money that Shane was getting from his mother about the Rolex endorsement deal. And when speaking to the Montreal media in French, I’m guessing that Shane was saying the basic things that young athletes routinely say to the media. But it was a little frustrating not having subtitles for the Russian and French dialogue. I also couldn’t read whatever texting there was and didn’t care enough to pause and try to read the texts.

Overall, I’m not wowed by this show but it’s only 6 episodes so I’ll watch it to see where it goes. It probably doesn’t help that I don’t like hockey or techno music. So far, I’m not getting the hype.
