community in Ontario. Virtually every sentence out of everyone's mouth is a joke -- 90% of the time it's an insult. In particular, it is SCATHING about hockey players.
Heated Rivalry is a capital-r romance about queer hockey players who captain rival teams. It's not that it doesn't have funny moments, but it's very much a heartfelt story about yearning and falling in love when you don't know if you're safe with the other person, and you KNOW you aren't safe in the world you inhabit. It's also gorgeous to look at, it has these amazing needle drops, and you have to pay close attention because it's all about the microexpression on their faces, along with all the russian subtitles and text exchanges. Literally blink and you miss the subtle storytelling half the time. It's also extremely sexed-up.
You simply would not guess, looking at Heated Rivalry, that it has any creative crossover with Letterkenny.
