There's a very funny scene where you watch Shane write a text, erase it, write another one, put this phone down -- cut to Ilya watching the bouncing dots disappear -- and then Shane picks up the phone, writes another text and send it. It gives you so much information about his state of mind.
In the same episode, you get a moment at the end where he writes a text, deletes it, and then writes another text that is incredibly revealing, and then we watch him slowly delete it, letter by letter, and then send nothing.
It's so smart. Most of the other texting is in these montages, so you are seeing years go by with them sending short, snarky texts to each other to indicate life events. I will stand up for the way they use it in this show.
