(oops--hit "enter" too soon...)
Probably the best wedding I ever attended was that of a good college friend who got married on her grandma's farm. They set up a small tent for the ceremony and a much bigger tent, complete with a dance floor, just a few hundred yards away from the wedding "venue". That wasn't the only reason I consider this the best wedding I've ever attended--I also loved that both his and her grandmother performed the ceremony (hers took care of the Presbyterian part; his handled the Jewish aspects of the ceremony), I loved the crazy mix of people that somehow all got along, I loved how beautiful everything turned out despite the couple being on a tight budget (there was a lot of DIY; I did the calligraphy for the place settings, bff and I both helped put together the simple floral arrangements on the reception tables, etc.) and I loved the overall vibe and positive energy all through the afternoon and evening.
