of the leave and take event just to see what remained. I wasn't planning on going but I was at "the corner" (what we natives call the main intersection in our town) anyways, using a brand new kiosk at Discount Drug Mart to renew my license plate sticker and since the event was literally right across the (side) street, I stopped in. The tables were about 80% empty except the table where the books were, but there was still a fair number of outdoor items, baby items and small pieces of furniture. I swear I wasn't planning on coming home with anything today...but I came home with another book for Dad (a large print mystery by one of the authors he likes...I think), a large decorative pillow that perfectly matches my summer bed quilt, a pair of beautiful green goblets that would be nice for Christmas (or St. Patrick's Day) and a battered but intact board game: Trivial Pursuit (the original version). I'm hoping to convince Dad to play a few rounds of the latter one night. A few of the event organizers were in the process of cleaning up and were actively encouraging the few people browsing to "take anything--or everything!".
