going to reunions as a child/teenager. For whatever reason they quit having them.
My grandparents resurrected the family reunion 27 years ago. They feared that the family was getting too far flung geographically and that the next generations wouldn't know each other. There were 7 children of my grandparents. 6 are still alive. those 7 kids created 18 grandchildren.
I am the 3rd oldest of those grandkids.
Looking around yesterday; both myself and my husband are wondering how long we can keep this going.
My aunts and uncles are getting older and facing physical limitations. Even the youngest uncle who drives from near El Paso; the neck and back injuries make traveling difficult.
I'm trying to hope that my generation can keep this reunion going. But we need others to step up in the planning if we want to do so.
