I wonder about that too. As I mentioned, I just watched episode 3 in which Bash goes to see the guy who got him to Canada. I confess...I fell asleep towards the end of the episode so I don't know if the other doctor had a change of heart and wanted to welcome Bash back into his life for good. It seems like he didn't want that, that he was angry with Bash and Amira just leaving without warning, and I can understand that. Anyways, that was another person dropping out of Bash's life...at this rate, he won't have anyone but Amira to turn to and she'll likely have issues of her own, both in general and related to her relationship with Bash.

Mild spoiler is that the other doctor does come around and is friendly with Bash again by this past episode. But anytime Bash talks with a friend from back home, I always get the feeling that he's homesick in some ways. Obviously not for a war torn country but for the people he knew and loved and is now separated from. I don't think he'd go back anytime soon because of Amira. He is her primary guardian and, now with Mags dead, she will rely on him all the more. I can't decide where I think he will be by series end tho.

I loved Theo in season one but now, not so much. I like your idea of him having his own practice--then he can just yell at himself <g>. I've been kind of indifferent about June from day 1 and feel she's just a female Dr. Benton from ER (though Benton was a lot more shout-y) so I don't much care how her story ends.

Theo has turned into such an Angry White Man cliche. Sadly, a couple characters feel more like caricatures this season (Theo, Novak, Devi, Claire, etc). He just seems fed up with the system at the hospital so, yeah, maybe he should go into private practice so he can do whatever he wants without having to answer to a boss.

I was also never a big June fan. I don't feel like they did enough to humanize her. She's very cold and aloof even now, several seasons in.

I don't like Devi. I feel she's hurting the cause of females in positions of power for exactly the reason you state: she seems to be ruled by her emotions.

So I've done some soul-searching and asked myself if I have some internalized misogyny towards Devi. I don't think I do because I want to see strong female characters kick butt onscreen but she is too ruled by her feelings. Also, she kinda comes across like a hater of men in general. All her issues are with the male doctors despite the female ones making equally bad choices over the course of the show. She ousts Novak from Trauma OR even though he is brilliant in the position and, yeah, he's a jackass most of the time but she doesn't have to like him, she just has to let him save lives. She's always on Theo's case whether he deserves it in that moment or not. And, I'm sorry, but I do not believe Mags was a better choice for the position than Bash. I just don't buy it. And there is Claire over here addicted to drugs and stealing from the hospital and Devi is just lightly scolding her. Yeah, Devi sucks.

Yes, yes, YES! John Hannah is the main reason I started watching the show, and I was sorry to see him go even though it was a good storyline. I'd love to have him back at the end!

I love John Hannah too. I hated that he left so I'm happy to see him again. He is great.
