I like Maxie and glad she is back, and wish pacing had been better. Maxie finds out Nathan alive in a group setting. He comes over to the Spinelli household with others in the room and Maxie says she's sticking with Spinelli. No conflict no story, no Nathan/Maxie first meeting with Nathan, or Maxie torn (maybe a scene with Felicia as she talks over her feelings).
As far a I can see Maxie was just a little complication as Lulu and Nathan get together. I like Spinelli and am happy he will remain with Maxie. But I hate the fact that instead of taking advantage of this situation including Spinelli and another week of episodes, all the show cares about is Lulu and Nathan.
