I can see a Lulu/Nathan/Maxie/Spinelli storyline being interesting, but it was so rushed. Maxie barely acknowledged Nathan and then acted like Maxie betrayed her by having feelings for Nathan. Which wasn't helped by the writers having the "Lulu tells Maxie" in a way that made it sound like they were already in the middle of a relationship rather than exploring the beginning.
It also didn't help that the writers didn't give us a Nathan/Maxie scene before the group "I'm sticking with Spinelli" scenes. As it is, neither Lulu nor Maxie have been given the time to justify their reactions.
Such a wasted opportunity.
