because Trina wouldn't ever forgive Portia if she tried to put her new brother/sister what she went through. Plus Curtis would be a fool not to get DNA from Portia without her knowledge and insist on getting the results confirmed from the lab or do a test of his own because he would have every reason not to believe Portia without solid evidence. Having Portia do the same thing again when it turned into such a mess would be hard for the writers to sustain.
Speaking of which, Trina has totally forgotten the father who raise her. I don't understand why the show didn't kill him instead of have him leave town with Trina never hearing from him again.
