Sidwell is a bad guy through and through. Soaps need good bad guys and Sidwell is happily and unapologetically evil. Marcos on the other hand is a pale imitation of his father.
He presents himself as independent from his father's dealings, but he's fully involved in his father's business. He is working for Alexis under false pretenses, since he promised her he wasn't involved with his father's business. Even if that was true when he was hired, he continues to work for her now that is no longer true.
He also professes to love Lucas, yet instead of moving into an apartment with him, has him living at Wyndemere where crimes are takin place and Anna is being held captive. Lucas could easily end up unintentionally discovering something that could seriously harm or kill him.
Soaps need bad guys the Marcus seems to have no moral or immoral center -- just does whatever his father says. There is nothing interesting about a soap character who is constantly written to do the stupidest or most thoughtless thing in any given situation. And believing such a weak character is harmful to Alexis (who is supposed to be smart) and Lucas (who, like Marco, is very undeveloped as a character). I have no issue with either actor, but both characters need to be given more secondary storylines and scenes with other characters. And the show has to decide if Marco is going to work with this father or if he is going to be his own man They can't have it both ways.
