I grew up in that traditional black family from the south where we don't talk about feelings or needing any kind of mental help. We were told, you better seal it in your bosom and take it to the Lord. I hated that. I really did. Now my sister and I as adults tell our parents that we need more than Jesus sometimes. Both her and I will reach out if we need mental health resources.
