But I would say that LOTF is one of Yellowjackets’ inspirations. YJ tells the story of a girls’ high school soccer team whose plane crashes in the remote wilderness in 1996 leaving them stranded to survive a brutal winter. Their story is told in two parallel timelines: their 1996 wilderness survival and 25 years later where the adult survivors of the crash grapple with the trauma and secrets of their shared dark past. The show blends survival drama, horror, and coming-of-age elements, exploring themes of survival, power dynamics, and the breakdown of societal norms, with a dual timeline that jumps between the stranded teens and their adult selves.

It stars Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis and Lauren Ambrose among others playing them as adults and an equally good cast of younger actors playing them as teens.

It’s a great show. I highly recommend it.
