even with weed mats and mulch, you just don't get every weed by the root and some stuff just starts growing out of no where.

but if one does a REALLY good job in the spring, there shouldn't be a need for a HUGE weed-a-thon later in the year. at that point, you're pulling out random stragglers, no large areas that are growing all at once like we have in the spring.
