Last week I whined about the cost of gas. This week, indulge me as I brag about my successful trip to the local Giant Eagle this afternoon after work...
Giant Eagle has apparently taken a page out of Meijer's playbook; last week, they sent me some personalized coupons in the mail. I used 5 of them today, including coupons for their store made salsa (surprisingly good; I *only* use 8 oz. of GE's sweet onion salsa and 8 oz. of their medium heat salsa with extra cilantro when making ladyday's chicken taco chili), GE's ice cream, GE's canned green beans and GE's bagged shredded cheese. Plus I had a $5 off any order over $25 coupon. AND I took advantage of a couple BOGO sales on meat. So altogether, I got...
- 1 16 oz. sweet onion salsa
- 1 half gallon carton of chocolate peanut butter swirl ice cream
- 1 can no salt green beans
- 1 (2 cup) bag of shredded Mexican blend cheese
- 2 GE brand flavored bottled water (I didn't even know they had their own brand of bottled water)
- 2 Yoplait yogurts
- 1 can diced water chestnuts (I made a stir-fry for dinner)
- 1 box Minute rice (to go under said stir-fry)
- 2 bananas (for Dad)
- 2 pork butt roast, both around 3 lbs. (I love tossing a butt roast in the slow cooker!), BOGO
- 2 packages of chicken breasts, two breasts each, BOGO
By the time sales prices were calculated and coupons rung up, I paid $29.91. The meat alone would've cost more than that. I just did a pork butt in the crockpot but I'm looking forward to doing another one soon.
