left us, there's not a single co-worker I 100% love to work with. Some I like because they do the job well but I don't enjoy aspects of their personalities. Others I love as a person and would totally go have coffee or dinner with them after a shift but working with them can be a challenge. Right now my "favorite" of the bunch is "B" (Big Grandma Energy) who is an absolute sweetheart and has a heart of gold and is just so, so kind. She's also been with the company long enough that she can handle just about anything. But last Thursday, I actually hit her...
OK, I actually "just" smacked her hand. We were having our usual intense Thursday (due to some regulars who come in on Thursdays because they know it's our store manager's day off) and both of us are scheduled every Thursday from 9:45 AM-7:15 PM. We are required by company policy to take a 30 minute break...but there's no rules about WHEN that break should take place. Last Thursday, we had such a steady stream of people in the store (and not a lot of them buying, but some of them just really...needy and indecisive) that I didn't get to sit down until 5:45 PM. I told B to take her break first because I'd at least snuck back to the break room, heated up a Lean Cuisine and took bites of it between customers. B had neither eaten anything nor sat down. She'd barely even had anything to drink...and she gets a little loopy when she's dehydrated. Around 5:00, we were FINALLY alone in the store, and I urged B to go sit down and take a break, telling her I'd take one after her. But she kept finding "just one more thing" to tidy or replace or whatever. At 5:14, when she reached for yet another stack of t-shirts that were folded nicely but not to her persnickety satisfaction, I literally smacked her hand, pointed in the direction of the breakroom and told her kindly, but firmly, "go sit DOWN!. Which she sheepishly did. The woman gets distracted from her task SO easily and stinks at time management...
Anyways, I hope the summer isn't as stressful as you think it could be!
