what "KJV" stood for <g>) would be in Biblical times, the right hand, or just "right" in general, was considered superior. Not exactly sure why (maybe because more people are right-handed than left-handed? *) but I've read that fathers traditionally used their right hands to bless their eldest sons, giving them the "better" blessing. The right hand, and thus "right" as in "direction", was considered stronger and more favorable; on Judgment Day, the followers of Christ are said to be placed to the right of Jesus and the unbelievers to the left. The left hand, and thus "left" as in "direction", was considered the weaker hand or position.

*in Ye Olde Olden Dayes, some cultures even believed that the left hand was unclean, unlucky or even sinister. This appeared in all parts of the world, including many who didn't embrace Christianity.
