in charge of the accounts in the first place? Maybe I'm just cynical but after a child reaches 18 AND comes into a large sum of money, I feel a professional should be overlooking that money, not the parents, just for this reason.

Not that a professional couldn't also embezzle money from a client *sigh*. But if I'm going to be cheated out of my earnings, I'd rather it be by someone I'm not related to.
