I commonly hug the children in my family and sometimes my mom... and just the other night at after volleyball game my favorite neice came running over and hugged me.
I love that! Something I've seen on social media in the last few years: parents telling their small children it's OK to say no to a hug, even if it's from Grandma or some other well-known relative. Generally I'm HIGHLY in favor of body autonomy...I'd never really given any thought to a child not wanting a hug from a loved one and I know in my youth, it would've been considered rude for a child not to accept a hug from Grandma or Grandpa. But I can see why a hug might not be wanted by some children.
But, since I spend so much time at work.. and I am the B word... it is not appropriate for me to go around hugging coworkers. So I guess I am sort of out of the habit. I used to hug friends when I saw them all the time. I still hug old friends I have not seen in a while.
Oh yeah...no hugging at work for you!
