I just don't see us being aligned on what happened at BAFTA's. I do not blame him for TS. I know it's real. I have never heard of the type he has so I thank you for the education. I just don't see him as one of the victims here because he likely knows the most about TS and thus should have never allowed himself to be placed in the circumstance with what now seems like a VERY obvious outcome.

~He saw the mic, but what did he do then? Did he ask for it to be moved? Did he asked to be moved away from it?

~He didn't leave the entire ceremony. He just left the main room and they placed him in a private room, with a monitor and he was able to watch the remainder of the program from there. That should have been the scenario from jump street.

~You've very thoroughly educated me on numerous scenarios where this and similar things have happened. I am sorry he was beaten. I am sorry that he is enduring what is probably a living Hell. I think he had a right to be there, but I don't think he should have been.

~It just doesn't seem like there was going to be a way to avoid the inevitability of what was to come--by placing him in that setting.

~My mother has had epilepsy since she was a child. It was bad. So bad, that she was told not to drive. So she never learned. She made 72 this month. It's been about 20 years since she had a seizure. My brother is 44 and he is the only one of her children to develop epilepsy in his early 30s. We were actually at a funeral and he had his first one. Before that he was healthy. The seizures then started happening more often and his doctor said it was no longer safe to operate a vehicle so my brother hasn't driven in nearly 15 years. Why? To avoid the very real probability that he will have a seizure and injure himself and/or someone else.

I do hold BAFTA, BBC, and the producers more responsible. They are getting it from all sides. Particularly because they managed to censure part of a speech and failed to prevent the slur from airing. Now, I'm sure the story would have still gotten out because people heard it. But now it's online FOREVER. And like you said, all three will now be eternally tied to it.

Sigh 😔

We've always gotten along. I have love and respect for you.💐I just find it hard to muster up more than a miniscule of empathy for John where the BAFTA firestorm is concerned. I imagine he regrets that it happened--but it was preventable.
