a batch of Christmas cookies <g>. Betty Crocker's Russian tea cakes, to be precise

Mom made these occasionally at Christmas but never during the rest of the year, hence me thinking of them as "Christmas" cookies. Some call them Mexican wedding cakes...whatever the name, call them delicious! My co-worker "B" (Big Grandma Energy) had talked about maybe making them before Christmas, and I was *really* hoping she would, because I knew that if she did, she'd bring some in to share. Alas, she went with thumbprint cookies, which were also delicious but not a cookie I grew up eating at Christmastime. I couldn't stop thinking about the Russian tea cakes so ultimately, I caved and made them myself. I'll take a dozen to work tomorrow...I'm working with B and not sure if she'll want any as she has resolved to eat healthier and lose weight. But if she doesn't eat them, I know "M" (85 year old firecracker) will. I worked with M Monday night and asked her if she was one of the many folks who swore off sweets for the New Year. She grinned and said absolutely not, so I promised I'd bring her something sweet the next time I work with her, which will be Friday night.
