I have the same 2+ hour bias. I will watch a movie that I predict will be less than stellar if it’s 1.75 hours, but if it’s over 2, even if I think it will be great, I have to be “in the mood.” I think we somehow got it into our heads over time that movies are supposed to be 2 hours and now we can’t shake it. I’m not sure why, particularly given that most of us now watch most movies at home where Pause is a thing.
I watched The Sound of Music over the holidays and remember thinking that I wish movies still had built-in intermissions like they used to. Of course, the network didn’t actually observe the one in this movie, but it reminded me that I really liked them. I guess a series sort of gives you the built-in intermissions.
