Yes, I was an avid Karin Slaughter fan (still am). I eventually got into her Grant County series, featuring County Coroner Sara Linton and her (eventual) beau/husband Chief of Police Jeffrey Tolliver. It was a 5 or 6 book series, can't remember. Anyway Sara was the central figure. At the end of the series Jeffrey is murdered and Sara is a widow. At some point in the beginning of the Will Trent series, Sara and Will are working together on a case and eventually fall in love, etc. etc. Sara and Will are the MAIN characters, the main pairing. Will's ex Angie is a very important character in many many ways. But she and Will are the total opposite of "star crossed lovers". Angie is a horrible, damaged TOXIC person and she and Will are toxic for each other. As soon as it became apparent that the ABC Will Trent show was making Will/Angie end game...nope. The ABC show goes 100% against the original source material.
