before seeing an Off-Broadway production last night starring Michelle Williams and directed by her husband, Thomas Kail (who directed Hamilton). It’s a play that is not produced as often as other O’Neill plays and this was my first time seeing it on stage. It was good! I had read the play decades ago and seen the movie starring Greta Garbo. But I’m glad I reread it before going last night because several characters had strong Irish or Swedish accents and dialects and I was able to understand every word because of my reread.
