I finished Dead Money by Jacob Kerr...espionage and murder in the digital world. Pretty good with a twist ending that wasn't a complete surprise.

All This Could Be Yours by Hank Phillippi Ryan. A recently published successful author on a book tour who someone recognizes from her past and starts harassing her. She doesn't know the person but tries to stay one step ahead. The result is a little unbelievable but an enjoyable read.

Currently reading Wally Lamb's The River is Waiting. The main character accidentally runs over his twin son. He is destroyed and ends up in prison and tries to survive and salvage his life. I haven't finished because it is so sad I have to keep putting it down. I've read other Wally Lamb novels and he really gets inside his characters. This is so depressing compared to the other few I've read.

Which gets me to another book that's a re-read-Lady Oracle by Margaret Atwood. This is one of her earlier novels before The Handmaid's Tale made her a household name. Lady Oracle is funny and lighter fare even though Atwood was a feminist from her earliest writing. Lady Oracle concerns an overweight young woman whose mother hassles her about her weight-she is close to her aunt who is her eating buddy. When her aunt dies, she leaves her her fortune but she has to lose 70 pounds to get it. She does and sets out to find the life she's been missing and develops several identities-she's a mystic, a raunchy romance writer and a wife. She tries to keep all these roles separate but of course it doesn't work. I was interested to read some reviews from younger people (I assume)who were really puzzled by the book, I'm guessing they were expecting something more like HT or Testaments.

And Finally, I got a skip the line offer(anyone familiar with this?)from the library to read the Widow from John Grisham. This is his first attempt at writing a straight mystery so anxious to see how it turns out.
