I'm getting there. I have a bunch of lists! And a teeny bit of drama.

First, the lists. I have grocery lists, baking lists, lists of what to get from the grocery store and what to get from the farmer's market and Amish market. It's a lot.

I have the turkey already, and I think I have most of the baking supplies. I'm planning for Sunday to be baking cookies with Jack and then we're going to freeze most of them in preparation for our Christmas party on the 13th. Last I looked I was planning on 8 different kinds. Plus a cranberry pie and a pecan tart for Thanksgiving dinner (I made the tart last year but wasn't impressed, I think it was because I cheaped out and used a Pillsbury pie crust instead of the dough the recipe writer makes, so I'm going to give it another shot this year).

The turkey has to come out of the freezer on Saturday, and on Wednesday morning I'm putting it in the brine and back in the garage fridge and let me tell you I am SO EXCITED to have a second fridge I cannot contain myself. That sucker is going to be chock full of cookies by the end of next weekend!

In the next few days I also need to get some furniture moved around and maybe give a shot at unpacking some boxes from the basement room or maybe just schlepping them all out to the garage. We need more furniture in there but haven't decided on anything yet. We also need some more furniture in the family room but I want to rearrange it first and everyone pray my Christmas tree will fit down there because I think that's the perfect place to put it but the ceilings are like 7 ft 4 inches and I have a 7 1/2 foot tree and it's ok if I don't have a topper, LOL. It would make things WAY easier if I have the food upstairs and the tree downstairs. Plus I want a recliner for down there and may buy it this weekend or next.

And now the drama - so last year we went to the beach for Thanksgiving (you may remember that my old car broke down on the way and was instrumental in why I now have a new car). Mr. Kris's dad and stepmom live on that side of the bridge and came down for Thanksgiving. So this year a few weeks ago his dad texts us and asks us to dinner. Well, there is zero chance I'm going somewhere for dinner when I finally have a big kitchen to cook in, so I immediately without asking Mr. Kris invited them to dinner at our place instead. And realized later that we should have asked his mom to come for dinner instead. She and my SIL came over last weekend so my SIL could see the house (she was visiting from OH) and at the end of the visit Mr. Kris asked his mom if she and her husband wanted to come for Thanksgiving and said his dad was also coming, and the response was a fairly frosty "I know" and no, they wouldn't be coming. 😬 Apparently my SIL had dinner with my FIL (not her dad btw) the day before and told her they were going to our place for Thanksgiving, and she told her mom. So I kind of stuck my foot in it by not asking her first, we haven't spent Thanksgiving with them in ages.

In an ideal world they'd all get along and just come anyway, but over the past few years they haven't gotten along. Back when we got married they seemed much better with each other, I'm not actually sure what changed.

I did invite her to come to the Festival of Trees with us on Friday but she declined, said she thought it might be too much walking around for her.

Maybe we'll bring dessert and cookies over to her place on Saturday, or have them over for the same. We thought about going to the beach again for the rest of the weekend but we're going to decorate for Christmas instead. See what we actually have and get rid of the stuff I don't like. And debate whether this is appropriate to put on the front door: [link] It's not that one *exactly* but it's very similar.
