Friday but I picked up a shift at the next nearest store, which is a 30 minute drive from me (my store is a 20-25 minute drive). I was scheduled as the closer...when I got there, I discovered I couldn't get into the register. We sign on with our associate number and a 4 digit password; I kept getting a "not recognized" message. This happened a couple months ago when I took a shift at the outlet store; then, it was never resolved so I spent my shift straightening up and escorting women to the dressing room. This time, because I needed to shut down the registers, I *had* to be able to sign in. It took a couple phone calls--one to this store's manager and then one to MY store manager (who'd told me to call her if I had problems)--before it was resolved...and then the system kicked me out again, just 30 minutes before I had to start closing out the registers 🤬 Which necessitated ANOTHER call. Luckily, we didn't have many customers all shift long and my co-worker was absolutely wonderful. I didn't really *want* to work that night but our parent company is incredibly cheap. They raised their prices, reduced the number of full time members the smaller stores can have, cut hours across the board AND of course didn't offer any raises 🤬🤬🤬. There's a craft show next week that I always attend with my good church friend, and I wanted a little extra spending money.

The next day, I attended an event at a branch of our local library: "Merry Recycled Christmas". They encouraged patrons to drop off holiday decor and other holiday-related items that they no longer wanted and take home new-to-them items. I decided to go towards the end of the event both because I could then drive straight to work (it wasn't exactly on my way but both this particular library branch and my workplace are south of where I live) and because it would curtail what I brought home <g>. I was a little surprised when I got there and found the tables picked almost clean and the librarian in charge already starting to pack up stuff. She apologetically explained there had been a mad rush for the first two hours of the event (10:00 AM-noon) and then nobody until I walked in. She still let me drop off my few items ...and take home a darling little pinecone tree, small enough to fit in my cupholder.

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the opening of Busy Bees, a place a couple towns over where you can take the crew and paint (pictures or ceramics), make glass mosaics, fuse glass, sculpt and so much more. I've been there a few times and I'm STILL on the website (here's us at my bff's 50th birthday party; I'm on the far left, then after me is bff, bff's niece, a cousin and her two sisters [link] ) I signed bff and me up for a free resin art project. They had molds, items to put in the molds (pressed flowers, sprinkles, glitter, etc.) and fast-drying resin so we were able to take our projects home with us. I made a pair of earrings and bff made magnets. Everything came out pretty well and it was fun enough that I'd love to try it again, maybe bring in something from home to preserve in the resin. I don't think I would want to go out and get supplies to DIY; it's messy and involved and would take a lot longer.

I'm off today and mostly spending the day cleaning, but tonight I'm going to another library event: a craft swap. If it's what I'm thinking it's going to be, you take your crafts to the library and swap them with crafts made by other crafters. When I signed up, there weren't many names on the list so I'm not sure how successful this will be...but they'll have cider and cookies, plus I never mind a trip to the library <g>.
