I got through Lonesome Dove this summer fine, but one of the sequels (prequel) I had to stop as it got too much.

There's a difference between "they woke up and one of their cows dead and "they went out back *description of how they make hamburgers"...

I haven't ready anything by Jones, but I just checked The Story Graph for "My Heart Is a Chainsaw", which has a lot of trigger warnings...and "animal death" had 147 votes :-/
