a delivery or service person is at best irritating and more often really stressful. Your concerns are all very valid!
A couple weeks ago, Dad called someone to pump out the septic tank. He went with a different company, I think, and the plan was for them to come out "some time on Friday". Um...WHEN on Friday? Dad couldn't even get an estimation of whether they'd arrive in the morning, afternoon or early evening. I had to go to work at 2:00; I wound up leaving early because I was concerned the truck would pull into the driveway right before I needed to leave and I wouldn't be able to get out and get to work. And then they never showed on Friday. Instead, they came Saturday morning, without warning, about an hour before I had to leave for work. I'd planned on leaving early and stopping at a bakery not too far from my workplace to get a free birthday treat; that obviously didn't happen. The guy wound up leaving literally 5 minutes before I absolutely *had* to leave. And to make matters worse, the company charged more and did less work; usually they take out the pump, hose it off, then suck out the yuck and hose off the walls of the septic tank. Dad had our hose already hooked up and ready to go...the guy (literally and metaphorically) sucked and left.
So yeah, the concerns over delivery are real. I wish you were my neighbor...we have all sorts of branches and small downed trees in the very back that we'd be happy to let you have for free, as long as you do the hauling away <g>.
