different patients are going to have different insurance plans with different networks. The important thing is that you can get any prescriptions you need at a pharmacy that is in-network for you.

I’ve had to change pharmacies several times in the last few years. First I was at an independent mom and pop pharmacy for several years but they closed. One of the two pharmacists retired and the other one started working in Rite Aid where they sent my prescriptions. I was at RA for a couple of years but they filed bankruptcy for the second time and started closing or selling all of their stores. Mine closed a couple of months ago and they sent my prescriptions to Walgreens, which is a company that is in deep financial trouble and about to be bought by private equity. The private equity firm that is buying Walgreens is the same private equity firm that owns our Wahoo’s Chico’s. So we’ll see what they do with Walgreens.

All three of these pharmacies were within 5 blocks of home and in my network. So I went with them. But we, as patients/customers can always have our docs send our prescriptions to any pharmacy we chose, close/convenient and in-network being what matters. It irks me a little that Rite Aid had the right to sell all of their customer/prescription info to Walgreens. That info was one of their most valuable assets after they went bankrupt. Still, selling patient info is a bit unsettling.
