a possible fraudulent payment from your account?

I use Paypal sparingly. My Netflix and cellphone payments are through Paypal, and I also still have a Patreon account supporting Home Free that is paid with Paypal. Three times a month, I get an email from PP letting me know these payments were made. Once in a while, I get an email from PP asking if I want their credit card or updating me on their terms of service.

This morning, I got a very official-looking email from "PP" telling me a payment has been made to a business that I'd never heard of. Reasons I thought it might be a legit warning from PP...

- the email address was correct
- it was for a very specific amount of money ($800 and change)
- I Googled the business and it is supposedly legit (it's a cryptocurrency site)
- the PP logo was there and everything was spelled correctly

But there were reasons I thought it might be a scam...

- according to PP's website, an email to me would include my first and last name. This had neither
- according to PP's website, the logo would have a checkmark after it. This one didn't.
- the body of the email said it was supposedly from PP's official email but was sent to "do not reply @ <somebody else's name and email server"
- there was a number to call to get the charge backed off
- I logged in to PP's official website and this $800+ charge wasn't listed on my activities page

So...scam? I didn't reply to the email (or call the number) but I *did* forward the email to PP, reporting it as a phishing scam.

I hate that I'm generally gullible and don't feel I have a lot of computer savvy.

ETA--I did a reverse phone number lookup and not only did the number go to a person's name, it's been reported multiple times as a scam, having sent the same message (only with different amounts owed) to other people.
