places nationwide, turning it into more of a buyers market than a sellers market. We inherited my mom’s FL house and sold it in February 2024. A year later, that house is worth $10,000 less than what the new owners paid for it. And I really think it is still very much overvalued and will be worth even less a few years from now. I hope the people who bought it really want to live there for a while and weren’t thinking of it as a short term investment, expecting to resell it for a profit in a few years. Because I think those days are over, in FL, but in a lot of other places too. Maybe not CA and NYC though. So many people bought houses in a panic in 2020, apparently expecting the pandemic to last forever. I’m glad I’m not trying to sell our FL house now. Lots of people are having to sell for less than they paid for their house and houses are staying on the market, unsold, much longer. Maybe taking your time house hunting is not a bad strategy right now.
