That’s right, a parrot. The mother then takes some drastic steps to protect her daughter. I know it sounds completely absurd, and it is. But it’s also beautiful, and not nearly as depressing as it sounds. The first few minutes are surreal and frightening — I had the thought that this was surely going to give me nightmares — but then the tone changed and I was enchanted. It’s not going to be for everyone, but if you like original indie films, you might really like this. I loved it.
