And I don't mind 4000 words when it advances the story as opposed to setting a scene. Generally I like shorter books because then I have the time to read more of them but I can also understand reading for the beauty of the language.

For me, SFOC would have been an inferior novel without the vivid descriptions of the forest and the snow.

As I mentioned, I was good with the vivid descriptions of the forest and the snow but I really didn't need the courtroom described quite as vividly.
