new people join for just June/July/August. It makes sense that swimming would sound appealing in the summer to people who don’t usually swim year round. But.. every summer we get a bunch of new peeps who are shocked and dismayed that they have to swim laps (and wear a swim cap)! It’s a YMCA lap pool, not a hotel pool where people can just get in and not swim. They also can’t swim willy nilly, here and there.
I guess what amazes me is how many people buy a 3-month membership without understanding what they are joining — a lap pool at a gym. Not a recreational pool like you’d find in someone’s back yard. 🧜♀️
