of a $30B’ economic boom for the US

Grain of salt because the source here is the NY Post but, put another way, even the NY Post can see the connection between “Visa delays, concerns about how they would be treated by immigration officials, soaring airfares, a strong US dollar, and geopolitical tensions” and international travelers deciding to boycott the World Cup matches at US venues. The linked article is only about foreign World Cup fans not coming to the US as expected and counted on. The article does not mention how well Canada and Mexico, our cohosts, are drawing international visitors.

“Domestic travelers are outpacing international travelers in the US — an imbalance that threatens the broader economic impact the World Cup was expected to generate.” Plenty of expensive hotel rooms are still available in the eleven US cities that are hosting the World Cup.

LOL! I was wondering how hosting the World Cup was going to work out for the US in the current political climate between the US and the rest of the world. Apparently Trump’s dissing, bullying and stirring up so much hate is not attracting international World Cup fans. Now here’s a boycott that sends a real message. Why would anyone from other countries want to come here right now?
