To me, this is a no brainer. It’s ridiculous that SNAP recipients can buy a fully cooked rotisserie chicken if it’s cold but not if it’s hot. To those who say people should just get a raw whole chicken and cook it themselves, sure that would be the cheapest way to get a whole chicken. But lots of people don’t have kitchens like the homeless and those living in shelters and SROs. And others, like some disabled and elderly, can’t stand and cook things like a whole chicken. A hot rotisserie chicken is a good nutritious dinner base to feed a family. So, if you’ve ever wondered why your grocery stores sells both hot and cold rotisserie chickens, this might be why.
