who would do something like that, not caring if a bystander took a bullet by mistake. His whole instantly popping up and shaking his fist and chanting "Fight" behind the American flag was really suspect to me. Like, who thinks to do that when someone is supposedly shooting at them? That felt staged.
That said, it could also have been a legit assassination attempt. America is never lacking in nuts with guns wanting to shoot someone and how better to go down in history than killing a famous politician? We all know the names of the men who assassinated presidents. They're recorded in history books.
As for them not talking about it, that is also sus but since the guy was a registered Republican, that could be part of it. If he'd been anything but a straight cis white male Republican, they would've never let it go. And the gun he used brings some unwanted attention since the majority of people feel civilians shouldn't own them. Easier to not answer the hard questions if you just never bring them up.
